WorkCare™ provides Employers solutions to help protect and promote employee health through the administration of occupational health services. A leader in the medical surveillance field, WorkCare™ has grown from a single occupational medicine practice to a network comprising thousands of clinics and hundreds of Employer-Clients. Over its 40-year history it has acquired competitor products helping to grow their offerings. While this lead to an increase in expert practitioners and new ways to do business, they were left with the problem of several disjointed & redundant pieces of software.

Opportunity

Managing a medical surveillance program is complicated. Not only does it involve understanding regulations like those set by OSHA or the DOT, but having to administer all required components: tracking due dates and scheduling medical exams, proper reporting, document handling and electronic record keeping. Add in the need for injury prevention programs, drug & alcohol screenings and return to work assessments and it becomes exponentially harder.

All of these jobs were being handled by the internal WorkCare™ team (Clinicians & Program Administrators) using a mash-up of existing software, email communications and spreadsheets, but the goal became allowing the Employer-Client the ability to do this work themselves.

This solution included the Employer-Client portal, where we designed a complete solution where the rapid prototyping & presentation won WorkCare™ a contract worth millions in additional annual revenue and helped it claim a stake in its competitive market.
